How we research HVAC software and turn evidence into practical recommendations.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Our promise: We aim to help HVAC contractors make clearer software decisions through transparent research, practical comparisons, and visible limitations.

What we cover

HVAC Software Lab publishes reviews, comparisons, pricing guides, buying guides, and operational resources for HVAC contractors and service businesses. We prioritize questions that affect real purchasing decisions, including team size, workflow complexity, implementation effort, pricing, and integrations.

How we research software

Our research can include official pricing and product pages, vendor documentation, demonstrations, trial access, release notes, support materials, public customer feedback, and direct clarification from vendors. Each article states the evidence available at the time of publication.

When hands-on testing or customer interviews have not yet been completed, we say so rather than implying first-hand experience.

Our evaluation criteria

Scores and recommendations

A high score does not mean a product is right for every contractor. Rankings reflect our assessment of fit for the audience and use case identified in the article. We explain who each platform is best for, important tradeoffs, and when another option may be more appropriate.

Pricing and updates

Pricing and features can change without notice. We date material pricing checks and link to official vendor sources where practical. Readers should confirm final prices, contract terms, add-ons, onboarding fees, and availability directly with the vendor.

How we use artificial intelligence

We may use AI tools to support research organization, outlining, editing, quality checks, and technical production. AI output is not treated as evidence. Material product claims should be checked against identifiable sources, and a human editor remains responsible for publication decisions.

Commercial independence

HVAC Software Lab may earn revenue from affiliate links, lead referrals, sponsorships, or advertising. Compensation does not guarantee coverage, a favorable conclusion, or a particular ranking. Material commercial relationships are disclosed clearly. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Corrections

We correct material factual errors when they are identified. Significant updates may include a revised date or an explanatory note. Vendors and readers may submit corrections, but we independently review the supporting evidence before changing editorial conclusions.

Authorship and accountability

Articles identify an author or editor whenever practical. The byline represents responsibility for the published work, including research quality, clarity, and future corrections.
